On Wednesday 30 September, Joy Global Africa officially handed over two fire fighting vehicles to the Leandra Fire Station.

Leandra1In 2013, partnership discussions started with Sasol, and a number of community initiatives were presented to Joy Global.  We identified the Leandra Fire Station as an initiative to support.

Sasol had built the first station and equipped it with a fire truck.

Joy Global contributed towards the purchasing of two additional firefighting land cruisers in November 2014. The vehicles had to be custom made to suit the station’s specific requirements. With the vehicles finally completed, Joy Global could officially hand them over to the Leandra Fire Station.

Leandra2The event was well represented by Sasol Mining Management, Govan Mbeki municipality officials, firefighters from Leandra station and Joy Global Management.

Leandra3These vehicles will be used to service the entire Govan Mbeki Municipality. In purchasing the fire fighting vehicles, Joy Global Africa has contributed to grass roots developmental efforts, in the communities we operate.
