The Fletcher Model LHD (Long Hole Drill) is a degasification drill designed to drill horizontally up to 5000' (1524m) into the working coal face for methane drainage, dewatering and seam orientation. Different torque and thrust capacities are available for different applications (from 10,000 lbs. (4535.9kg) to 50,000 lbs. (22,680kg) thrust and "NQ" or "BQ" size drill rods).
The LHD features:
- Rotational torque up to 2500 ft lbs (3390 n-m)
- Chainless drill feed carriage with thrust up to 50,000 lbs (22.4 kN)
- Hollow shaft drill chucks for EW, NQ and BQ rods
- Straight rotary drill systems
- In-hole motor drill systems
