P&H Final Drive Upgrade

  • Increased spline length between tumbler and shaft interface reduces stresses on the spline
  • Oversized thrust surfaces mounted to the crawler frame increase bearing life by removing axial loads transferred through the bearing capsule
  • Thrust surfaces reduce the wear on the bearing capsules, allowing for easier removal
  • Sealing arrangement engineered to keep dirt out and grease in place to keep bearing running clean
  • Once installed, it is no longer necessary to realign and recouple the transmission and motor
  • Removable inspection cover allows field maintenance to easily inspect bearing assembly

P&H lower works systems have been proven in severe duty applications; this same engineering and manufacturing expertise has now been applied to the design of parts for non-P&H undercarriages.

The Final Drive upgrade allows the drive shaft to be removed from the out-board side of the crawler frame on CAT® 7495 and Bucyrus 495 series shovels. This eliminates the need to decouple the motor and remove the transmission to replace the final drive shaft, dramatically reducing the maintenance downtime associated with replacement of these lower works components.

The upgrade can be supplied in the following configurations:

  • Direct replacement tumbler
  • P&H 10" Delta conversion tumbler
  • P&H 11" Delta conversion tumbler
