Gaining 124,000 tons per year at no cost; Tracking coal production

When production at a coal mine in the Midwestern United States was not reaching its full potential, personnel at the mine realized that it was their methods that were limiting production levels. The crews attempted to implement procedures to promote efficiency, but these efforts continues to default to a pattern of reduced capabilities.

Mine crews were eager to make changes, but did not have benchmarking or a way to track progress.
