This February, many of our Longview Finance Team employees (Billie Porter, Jeanette Barney, Charlie Jones, Kevin Lambright, Michael Plants, Scott Frakes, and Cindy Allen) as well as a friend from the Supply Chain area (Yolanda Webb) helped serve meals at the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission in Longview, Texas.
Hiway 80 Rescue Mission was established in 1955 for the purpose of providing food, shelter, and gospel services to homeless men in the East Texas area. In the early 1990s, the mission recognized that there was an alarming increase in the number of homeless single women and women with children. The Mission offered food and clothing, but there wasn't a place to shelter women and children. As a result, the Women & Families Shelter (formerly known as Hope Haven) was established in 1998 to accommodate the increasing population of homeless women and single mothers with children.
Today, the Mission provides rehabilitation and restoration for homeless men, women, and children in crisis. Hiway 80 provides food, clothing, shelter, medical attention, and spiritual counseling to those in need in the Longview community.
