Meet Victoria, Manager, Shovel and Drill Engineering.
Victoria developed her love for math and science at an early age. She became serious about becoming an engineer during her time in middle school. Over the next several years, Victoria continued to work hard, pursuing her dreams by earning her Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, U.S.
Her typical day at Komatsu involves working with multiple departments (Manufacturing, Planning, Product Support, Purchasing, NPD and Suppliers, to name a few), solving product concerns and maintaining product cost and standardization. She is also responsible for managing the CPS Drill & Shovel team workload.
“What I enjoy about my career is being part of an innovative environment and seeing a process/product from the conception phase through the design phase and then seeing the final product,” Victoria said.
One of her greatest moments at Komatsu was leading a cross-functional team that developed a new process for on-time delivery (OTD)/First Pass Yield (FPY) metrics for our engineering departments. The immediate outcome for this improved process resulted in our company achieving on time dleiveries and first pass yield at more than 95 percent.
Victoria sees the future of mining leading us towards safer and more reliable equipment. She also believes we will make more advancements in autonomous technology and auto drilling. She’s driving Komatsu forward by listening to our customers and considering their input as she designs to offer the safest equipment in the industry and allowing operators make it home their families every night.
In her free time, Victoria enjoys watching movies, trying new foods and listening to music. She spends most of her time with her husband and two children, who have several extra curricular activities in which she supports on a daily basis. She’s also a huge fan of the television show, Grey’s Anatomy.
Thank you to Victoria for all her hard work at Komatsu and helping us move >FORWARD!
